I really enjoyed this debut novel. It is a fantastic story. The storyline moves along quickly, it is a real page turner, with interesting characters that build through the story and tight prose that are just right for a detective novel.
I do hope there is a sequel!

This book is an absolute page-turner from start to finish. The character profiles are so well-developed that you feel like you know them personally, and the interwoven storylines are brilliantly crafted, keeping you hooked at every turn. The details of the cases are gripping, making you feel like an active detective piecing everything together.
There’s a quirkiness in both characters and storyline that adds charm, but it never takes away from the immersive experience. The writing is captivating—you get sucked into the world and simply can’t put the book down. If you love a book that keeps you guessing while pulling you deep into its world, this one is a must-read.

Such a great written book, one that you can’t put down. Just when you think you know the plot and have it set out in your mind, the plot twists and leaves you stunned!

A fast paced, plot driven narrative that will keep you hooked all the way to the end. Barnes’ writing is engaging and full of interesting insights into the world of the Met police. DS Christine Woolfe is a headstrong, no-nonsense lead character - I hope we get to meet her again in a sequel

A really exciting book, a very well written story that unfolds and blossoms very nicely into something quite dark. The characters, especially DS Christine Woolfe are easy to get to like and cheer on as they try to catch this clever killer. The author got it right all the way through to the ending. Hope to read more from DS Woolfe, and will definitely be looking out for more from Christian Barnes. Read through KU.
